2023 Fall Baseball Preview: Oktaha Tigers
Another fall season filled with high expectations for the Tigers
It’s hard to believe that the 2023 Fall Baseball Season is almost upon us, but that is the case as August 7 is the official start of the regular season.
Here at Sooner State Baseball Report it is our goal to provide as much coverage as we can. One way we are trying to do that is preview as many teams as we can before the start of the season.
We’ve sent out a questionnaire to many of the teams that play fall ball in hope that they will give us an honest outlook on their upcoming season. We’ve had a few responses so far.
Today’s team: Oktaha Tigers
Team: Okataha Tigers
Class: A
Fall 2022 Record
25-11 (State Tournament)
Spring 2023 Record
26-6 (State Tournament)
Head Coach:
Kevin Rodden
Head Coach Experience:
25th year (11th at Oktaha)
Returning Starters and Top Players
The Tigers return 6 starters from a program that went a combined 51-17 in the 2022-2023 school year. They are led by 2 Connors State commits: Maddox Edwards (INF/RHP) and Dylan Walden (OF). Edwards is described as a “baseball player” with a high baseball IQ. Walden is a left handed hitting outfielder that can “go get it.”
Also returning is Darren Ledford (C/RHP/1B) who is a big, physical left handed hitter. Kip Christian is a Utility/RHP that can play anywhere in the field. Braxton Casey is described as a “real dirtbag that can play multiple posistions. Avery Bronwing is also a returning starter who plays the outfield along with being a left handed pitcher.
Mason Pickering is a move in that is a “strong, physical, left handed hitter with high end tools.”
Outlook
The Tigers are once again state title contenders. They return tons of experience and Pickering moving in will only make them better. Oktaha will be an offensive force this year and if they can stay healthy, don’t be surprised to see the Tigers make a deep run in the state tournament.
